Take action

No family should go into debt to have a baby.

We are standing up for healthy moms and healthy babies. Add your name to the petition and send a letter to your lawmakers in support of zero-cost birth.

The issue

The cost of having a baby is too high.

For many families, the bills tied to pregnancy and childbirth arrive right when life is already stretched thin. Out-of-pocket costs lead some parents to skip prenatal visits or postpartum care they truly need. That is bad for moms, bad for babies, and avoidable.

We support zero-cost birth: the idea that essential maternity and newborn care should not come with a price tag that keeps families from getting healthy care.

The bill

Supporting Healthy Moms and Babies Act

S.1834 and H.R.3762, 119th Congress. A bipartisan bill that would:

  • End out-of-pocket cost-sharing for prenatal, childbirth, neonatal, and postpartum care
  • Make maternity and newborn care an essential health benefit
  • Cover miscarriage and pregnancy-loss care
  • Include behavioral health support for new parents for up to a year after birth
